Your archive is ready. Here's how to download it.

Works the same whether you're downloading from Facebook or Instagram — both use the same Meta download center.

Video: How to download your archive zip — coming soon

1 Find the email
2 Click the link
3 Download your files
1

Find the email

Look for the notification that your archive is ready. Check your inbox and your spam folder.

FB security@facebookmail.com "Your Facebook information is available"
IG security@mail.instagram.com "Your Instagram data is ready"
💡 These emails sometimes arrive in a thread with earlier notifications from when you made the request. Scroll past those to find the one that says your file is ready.
2

Click the download link in the email

Open the email and click "Download your information" (Facebook) or "Download your data" (Instagram). Both will open Meta's download center in your browser.

If they ask you to confirm your identity before releasing the file, go ahead — it's a standard security check.

3

Download your files

You'll land on a page showing your available files. Download every file listed in JSON format — skip anything in HTML format.

  • JSON format — download this
  • HTML format — skip, we can't read it

Each file saves to your computer as a .zip. Don't open or unzip it — just leave it and upload it as is.

Facebook often splits large exports across several zip files (File 1 of 3, etc.). Download all of them — your gallery won't be complete if any are missing.

1

Go straight to the download page

Open a new tab and go to Meta's download center. Pick the one that matches your account:

Facebook → accountscenter.facebook.com/info_and_permissions/gdpr_report/

Instagram → accountscenter.instagram.com/info_and_permissions/gdpr_report/

💡 You can also get here through Facebook or Instagram settings → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information → Available copies.
2

Sign in if asked

If you're not already logged in, sign in with your Facebook or Instagram account. You'll land back on the Available Copies page once you're in.

If your archive isn't listed yet, it's still being prepared — check back in a few hours.
